fantastic painting very detailed

Agreed, great pen and wash Pamela

Colin Steed Artist & Tutor. Hi Pamela. Your Line and Wash painting is very good. The addition of the pond has made the foreground interesting without distracting the eye from the buildings. Although the photo is dark you have achieved an excellent result. A foreground shadow would give added light to the buildings and less intents colour on the buildings running out of picture to the left would help to highlight the beamed build that is the focal point. All in all though this an excellent attempt.

Well, thank you so much for all the comments - most unexpected! I am looking forward to the next issue of LP so I can see how Colin interprets the photograph.....I am sure I will learn a great deal from it!

I like your interpretation of Colin's project, I look forward to seeing his version in LP.

Pamela Cranefield sent in her version of Colin's project saying: 'I am very new to pen and wash but thought I would attempt the village green photograph (Colin Steed) from the August issue of Leisure Painter. I found it a little difficult to identify some of the features of the houses because of the photo's dark tones and tried to highlight the sun on various parts of the buildings. I decided to add some "interest" to the green by painting a small pond and a tree and making the grass a little more rustic than the photo shows'
