Cley Mill, Norfolk

I think you've done a really good job here James. I thought about giving the exercise a go but really didn't know where to start. Very well done!

I know this scene so well as we have a house just a few miles away. Very good recession - dramatic sky and nice sense of light on the windmill. Good job!

Thanks for kind comments. I think there are errors in the building roof plus I made a bit of a mess of the dark cloud. Never been to Norfolk, but did manage to enter Suffolk and Essex (when lost) en-route to Duxford, Cambs !

Colin Steed - Artist & Tutor. Yes I think a clean wash of colour behind the mill and a little more attension to the drawing of the mill are the only real problems you have with this painting. The warmth in the sky that is reflected onto the field is a great success. Well done James and you should visit Norfolk one day. The North Norfolk coastline is an artist dream.

Thanks for comments, Colin - will have to try and gather some new subjects this Summer. Not sure about using board again though, although my partner did a good snow scene on one.
