My idea was to have only the grassy area and hill behind in colour. But after doing this sketch, the rocks demanded a glaze of raw sienna over my original mix of Daveys grey and burnt umber. I loved the Lakes area in Britain where I rode my British-bought BSA in the summer of 1967. Bought it in Burnley when they were in the 1st division'
