maybe a touch more shadow to get the full effect?

Trompe L'Oeil they ain't...tonally far too bland and lacking shadow along one of the edges which would lift them off the paper instead of making them appear flat and very 2-D. I'd be inclined to look at a variety of T L'O images to see how they are done.

The top two pansies are nicely done with lovely blending Bryan.

Bryan Freeman sent in his version of Linda's pansies saying: 'I was tempted to have a go at the pansies as started in this month's Leisure Painter, what a great mag by the way! I used my own pictures and worked in polychromos pencils on hot pressed watercolour paper, the finished size is 7 x 14 inches. I am self taught and have been using coloured pencils for about eighteen months, I also like to use pastels both soft and pencil.'
