Rosemary Hale sent the following comments on James' painting: 'Well done James, you’re picture reads well – I feel I can walk along the towpath and through the arch. I agree that the house (sitting as it does above the bridge) is a distraction- one way to deal with that is to simply make it less visible by giving it a similar colour and tone to its surroundings. So, a thin brown painted gently over the house and roof should do the trick. I hope this picture has got you enjoying your painting again following the Christmas hiatus!'

Thanks for kind comment, Rosemary. I will try your suggestion for the background. I have had trouble with backgrounds before, so will remember this and "paint on" !

James Foxworthy took up Rosemary's challenge and sent in his version of Cherry Eye Bridge completed in watercolour, 7x10ins on 300gsm, saying: 'I tried this frosty scene in an attempt to get me painting again after the festive season. I did include the distant house, but (like the previous post) I now feel it somewhat distracts from the bridge's focus.
