Stunning work as usual, love your pallet, just pulls me in.

Beautiful work, Stephen. The darker skin tones are very difficult, aren't they. I have only done one like that of an American Indian and I used cad red, burnt sienna with touches of cobalt and cerulean. I don't worry too much about opaque colours as I don't build up the tone in layers of washes, going only for a single wash to get the right depth, but you do have to be careful of opacity if you favour the thin glazes method. Your work is always lovely and free and you have a great, easily recognisable style.

Just love this, the colours are lovely.

What a beautiful girl, beuatifully captured. I find paler skin tones harder than dark ones myself, mind you I still struggle with paint! Very well done and great harmony.

What a gorgeous portrait.

A winning expression that you've captured perfectly.

Agreed, super portrait and the skin tone is excellent Steven, lots of lovely detail in this study

Tried this one to try and get the skin tones, ended up with naples yellow, cad red pale, and cobalt blue. You have to use the Naples yellow very sparingly as it's opaque. It's a watercolour 15 by 20ins approx
