Proposition at Cafe Des Amis by Steven Ponsford
I have had a few go's at getting this one right! The darks are difficult to achieve without the areas going muddy. I usually use ultra marine, burnt umber and light red for the darks but after doing some experimenting I found that sepia instead of burnt umber worked a lot better. I used a number of refs for this and like to imagine that the cafe is in the back streets of old Paris. It's late at night and the scene is lit by the steet lighting. It's a watercolour and a little ink 16 by 9ins. Van Goch colours.
