Dorothea Canning by Steven Ponsford
This my late granmother when she was a young woman, it comes from a very old, tiny photograph taken about 1901 . She went on to marry my grandfather who almost died in the battle of the Somme in the 1st world war. Lost one of her eight children to polio and then went on to become a very shrewd business woman. She died in the nineteen sixties. I remember as the kindest women I have ever known. Pen and indian ink with a sepia wash. 10 by 5ins approx
