Not surprised it would have sold Pat, lovely colours and washes, shapes and forms and textures in this scene really lovely, love your rocks and stonework on both bridges, lovely sky as well, great use of light and shade, really attractive work

I'd have taken the money and run, but then I'm mercenary. Agree with Ros and Glennis, it's a superb painting. I wonder if you remember what acrylics were like 40 odd years ago - do you think you could have achieved this with the range that was available then? I've a feeling that oil would have been your only real option back then: acrylics have come on hugely, it seems to me. Although it's the artist using them that matters!

Wow, lovely painting and beautiful atmosphere.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Robert, 40 years ago I was indeed using oils for my more delicate work. I still use oils today. However, when I want the paint to dry quickly I use acrylics. This particular painting took about two weeks to create. I only used very few colours. It was mainly cerulean blue, phthalo green, hookers green, cad yellow, lemon yellow, vandyke brown, paynes grey and white.

This acrylic painting on a 50x70cm canvas panel shows the two bridges across the river Dart at Dartmeet on Dartmoor in Devon, England. The clapper bridge in the foreground may not be useable anymore but it certainly offers a very picturesque view. The painting was on display on an easel at the opening of my recent exhibition. It would have sold on the first night but my wife and daughter did not want to part with it. http://www.landscapeart.org.uk
