Dirty indeed now I won't get into that. Inspired work here Michael and it shows an empathy that most pooh pooh. Big like your spirit mentor. Out of my depth here. Seriously good sir

Generous as usual Dennis, and funny. Thank you. You know there is a long history of comedy in art. This is based on a plate from one of my drawing books.

Yes Michael I think you were passed on great artistic skills and using them very well indeed.

I'm boosted by your kind comments Dennis, and from such a technician. I would have loved to do a degree in art like you but I was taken in another direction. The dirty direction.

I bet you could write book with your work and anecdotes. This I really like. Pardon the pun. It's arresting.

Thanks For your encouragement Gudrun.

With this work a degree is in order Michael

Thanks Dennis. Working for the state guaranteed support for a ravenous family. Policing and social science is quite a dirty road to go down but well paid because of the grime. Art would have been more pleasant and less frustrating and puzzle-free but I guess that, unless you're so talented like yourself, the mouths wouldn't have got fed so well. I'm not an ardent Royalist but, 'The Queen, God bless her'.

I like the palette here Michael very fitting for subject. You captured him in more ways than one!

Smashing study and story

Excellent piece, Michael. Good composition, excellent tones, an a fascinating story behind it!

Pastel on pastel paper. A man I detained early one morning in east Durham for supplying a class A drug. When told he was being arrested he replied, 'What chance have I got with such a smooth operator as you Mr. McManus. You'll find three kilos of crack hidden in the bottom of my dirty underpants basket'. Policing is a dirty business.
