Beautiful drawing Michael, it is the aged Munch's scream.

Thanks Cesare. Come to think of it, you're right.

Cor blimey, Michael!!! I bet you woke up in a sweat and screaming!!! Great painting though. xx

Just read your' About' piece, Michael, which I should have read before my flippant comment. My apologies! (My niece is a homicide detective as is her dad. They have many dark images to cope with, too! Drawing is a good therapy I believe.) This is such a powerful image ,which I had to respond to.

Thanks Jennifer. I'm pleased to hear you say it had that effect on you too. Each time I look at it I wish I hadn't. Once in the 70s, on a detective course in Preston, a visiting Home Office psychiatrist asked for three volunteers from the class to come up and be hypnotised. One of the three was a lad from Belfast who worked on the Murder Squad there. He was the only one of the three that wouldn't go under. The psychiatrist said it was due to his job.

This is the stuff of nightmares not dreams Mick......it's a raw, tactile image of fear. That's what it conjures up for me, scary but not in a spooky way, more a malevolent way. Great colour choice for the image too.

Great portrayal of horror Michael.

Thanks Fiona and Carole. This is what I looked like when they told me the car boot was cancelled.

Looking at this certainly had an effect on me - hope you calmed down when you woke up!

Lol! I went to a car boot on Sunday Mick and was very lucky to buy 13 canvas' from 16"x12" to 12"x8" but mainly the larger ones, for the princely sum of £3. A hat for a £1 and a Victorian mahogany footstool for a fiver. I love a bargain! That should see me through the winter.

Gosh Mick, I can't really describe exactly how I feel seeing this. Maybe a sense of recognition from my own dreams. I also have lots of dark places and I dream very vividly most nights - not all like this, I am glad to say. I've tried, unsuccessfully for the past 30 years to try to decipher my dreams- I am still no nearer to any conclusions!

Thanks Fiona, Marjorie and Adele. I'm pleased you got some good bargains Fiona. The week before last I got a boatload of large and medium box canvasses at Corbridge for £13. I'll never use them all but I can't leave bargains like that. I always have plenty of stock. I gave some of my pastels away yesterday at the art class. I'm the same with old pocket watches. Over the years I've collected an attic full. I dream every night too Adele. They're never night terrors. Usually they are about work and family. The worst are anxiety based. Yet I'm hardly and anxious person But it's supposed to be about 'unconscious' feelings, so I must be and I'm not conscious of it until I dream. I don't dream about girlfriends whatsoever.

Oh dear this must have given you a fright Michael! I hate nightmares. Good pastel though.

Thanks Margaret. I'm trying to take onboard the soul of Dali and follow some of his philosophy. Here are a couple quotes from him which help to respond fully to your lovely comment: 'The difference between false memories and true ones is the same as for jewels: it is always the false ones that look the most real, the most brilliant'. “It is not necessary for the public to know whether I am joking or whether I am serious, just as it is not necessary for me to know it myself.”

So powerful Michael only glad I'm awake.

Thanks Michael. I haven't been asleep since I did it lol.
