Sunset over the lakes

Marvelous rays of light over the lake and the atmosphere is quite unique as the surrounding hills or fells seem to encompass a kind of solitary space, yet dynamic in this very spectacular place. I loved visiting The lake district where our Ancestors originated. A beautiful painting and sunset John!

Lovely use of light and shade to create depth and distance. Very atmospheric. I especially like the shaft of light rippling over the lake.

Looking out over Buttermere lake late one autumn afternoon, most of the landscape was in near silhouette and the sun was hidden behind a cloud, but with powerful beams of light shining down on the Lake. The water was still, there was no breeze, there was no sound.
