Biography

JULIE POWNALL BA (Hons) Fine Art The only thing I ever enjoyed at school was Art!…It was not Until year 2000, when my real Art journey began, that I went back to College and learnt to develop new abstract aspects of painting. It was very liberating to experiment with colour and texture…development further triggered following a visit to Seville in 2002. Originally from Cheshire, I moved to the Channel Islands where I went to school, then later spent a year in Catalunya, Northern Spain. Returned to Devon, in the 70’s, being my main home for over thirty years. After completing a Fine Art Degree with University of Plymouth in 2004 followed by two years in West Sussex, I was inspired to paint aspects of Brighton Pier/others… Now in Somerset, I will be using my style of Mixed Media painting with digital photography, to capture the texture, and colours from local environments, with Mediterranean influences never far away!.
