Very lovely painting Judith

A very "soft" use of oil paint - few sharp and hard edges; works well here, and I like the fine touches indicating uprights - so easy to wobble all over the place with them. I find I'm peering at it a bit, to try to understand the structure in places: we myopes tend to do that! Perhaps a little more definition, especially on the right of the painting, would help it read better .... but as a whole, it works; and I like the treatment of shadows, and the movement in your trees at the left.

Thanks for your comment,Petra! A long time since I've painted a streetscape,I usually go for water,or clouds. It is for a show which requires local content, and the area is famous for it's Blue Rock Lake, which i usually head for. My daughter suggested this, and last time she did so,I sold the painting, lol Thanks for your in depth analysis,Robert,I try not to go for too much definition,as I,m a tonal painter and like to keep the work fairly loose and painterly. In the actual painting, the sky is a little deeper in tone, and the road not quite as dark.Cameras always let me down!It was mainly about the lights and darks,so glad you think it works.
