I just browsed though your gallery and do not understand how I missed your work. Your pastel paintings are superb. I have done a few pastels in the past, but they did not turn out to be very satisfactory to me. Perhaps I am not choosing the right colour paper or even the right paper. I love the warm tint you put into this painting, and the icy stream is very well done. I do not feel that you have done too much to this painting. If up to me, I would pack plenty of colour into any painting. This may not be good advice to follow, though. I also have a tendency to overwork my paintings. Best regards.

I really like the composition and the colours used , I think it works perfectly, I am of an age now that I don't worry about overworking or not , If I think that with the skills I have at present the painting is finished then thats it, There will always be very talented artists who may indeed suggest ways of making it better and I hope I would file that advice away for next time, A really lovely painting, Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Well done , looks good

A super painting...just love those colours. Thank you for your encouragement. Perhaps when I've mastered watercolour, I'll give pastels ago in about 10 years time...god willing!

Took a photo of this small stream in the process of icing over near the clinic in Bad Feilnbach Bavaria and painted it in the warmth of my home. It is pastel on violet blue card. As usual I fear I did a bit too much to it.

In 1990 I took up painting. As with so many amateur painters i started with water colours and visited a number of evening classes. Since then I have tried many media and am currently struggling with water-soluble oils. I find satisfaction in all the different media I have tried so far, (perhaps…
