Less detail sometimes makes for a more exciting painting. Watercolour is a bit of a journey I think.

Thanks Louise and yes you are right - and what a journey - sometimes I get so frustrated with being too detailed and slavishly adding all the detail. I think Hermen Peckell said something interesting - let the paint paint itself.

Wonderful collection of boat paintings Joseph each one with it's own unique style. Love the washes and light in this one....it glows!

'let the paint paint itself'..if only it were that simple..

Lovely flowing washes here Joseph.

Do try lots more of these beautiful little cameos, Joseph - looking forward to seeing them!

Little study of a boat (which I like better than my big studies). The purity of simple flat washes and wet on wet is starting to appeal to me more so that detailed work.
