Pink Allie, Dress Designer

I really like this painting. A lot of work gone into it and yet it has a lovely loose feel. Really well done.

Thank you Jeannette. Actually it does take time to put in things like all those gold coins, but the whole thing, in acrylic, painted this way, i.e. Impressionistically, took far less time than the oil I did of the Chinese restaurant owner Steve with all his pots and pans. One thing making the painting of him, longer was that I was forced to make up the painting from eight photographs taken in great haste in bad light as he was doing the cooking. In contrast Allie posed properly for me in bright sunshine in my garden and I was able to complete her dress with the aid of two photographs. No-one is willing to sit full time these days as they are so busy, hence my use of the Camera more and more. I will be having a show of some 22 such 'people who work on the Isle of Wight' paintings next year in July when the Isle of Wight Artists 'Open Days' are on. John
