There's a very interesting technique employed here - how did you get that impression of silvery water against the hill on which the castle stands? It works beautifully.

Ps = great painting of the detail of the fountain, by the way; a tour de force.

Robert. Thanks for the kind comments. The answer to your question is a very simple one. I just carefully wet that area and lifted the colour out. Had to do it a few times to be able to get the gradation as the spray thinned out but I think it was worth it. Thanks.

Masterclass for watercolourists. So difficult a subject and handled wonderfully, full of atmosphere and movement. I can hear that water cascade now. absolutely great, John.
