That's a nice zingy field of lavender. Makes a lovely scene and a lovely painting.

Thanks for kind comment, Thea. The original is a bit more of a purple shade, shall await my own garden's lavender flowering now !

A4 300gsm/not. After photo in Tony Paul's LP article. An attempt to re-start painting, probably not the easiest of subjects. The colours look lighter in this reproduction. The lavender was painted using a shade of violet (Daler-Rowney pan, don't know the title), with some French ultramarine added. Still getting used to a new laptop and windows8, so I'm amazed to get any image here at all !

Started watercolour painting in 1996 after being inspired by TV artists Alwyn Crawshaw and Ashley Jackson. No formal training, but some informal evening sessions with a local artist (the late Ken Middleton), plus a 5-day Edinburgh art break in 2003.
