Bluey the Cat
The subject of this pet portrait is Bluey the cat. Sadly Bluey has terminal cancer so his owners were keen to have a painting done while he is still with them. Tempting as it was just to reach for payne's grey for the grey patches on the coat, instead I used prussian blue, crimson and burnt umber for the grey on the coat. I created a glowing brown for the leather chair by mixing burnt umber with cadmium red.
