I have real trouble with my pastels in keeping the colours clean. If you look at my Ducks picture on angela angela you will see what I mean. It has gone quite muddy looking in places. I was trying to be subtle for a change and to capture the softness of the birds and the cute chicks. However, in doing so I had to put on a few layers of pastel which seemed to muddy up. I was wondering where/ how you obtained your sand paper base. I use watercolour paper and put pastel on top, but having seen Bobby I would like to try a tougher base. Any advice would be welcome
