I bought a book by Estelle Day on oils for small still life after christmas, using a shadow box which I made following her instructions. As it was too cold for art in my shed it was idea for indoors in the warm. I use acrylics and gouache for each still life I painted in each medium and quickly able to complete the paintings with in a short time. mostly fruit, the earlier attempts from January was getting into the flow of painting, which I enjoyed the challenge.
