I sometimes use my own photo's for a painting, no problem. Like the palette here and your compostion with the very strong diagonal.

I have no problem with painting from photos. For such a small painting her eyes are really well done. I also like the shadow under the hat and the flow of all the shapes.

I reply to your question about the auction painting. Last year a group of people who were then on the POL forum decided to do an auction for Great Ormond Street. 20 artists donated paintings . We raised a fair amount of money but nowhere near what the paintings were worth despite wide advertising.. Yes mine was of Venice and yes that price was correct. Most of those artists have now left the forum including the lady who arranged it all so I doubt it will happen again.

Stuck for something to paint yesterday afternoon, I found this lovely photo in Rye's Herald & Heart hatter's catalogue. I know some people frown on painting from photos, but just had to do it anyway. It's very small, only about 4"x4" and painted over a disgusting earlier landscape that had to go!
