This is super Janet. I tried alcohol inks a few months ago at a class, and while I really liked the effects, haven’t used since because of the health warnings, so go easy!

You had fun and it turned out well!

Interesting, Tessa Gwynne, about the health warnings. Wasn't aware of the risks. I will take heed and ensure the area is well ventilated. Maybe use the product in the summer. Do oil painters have similar problems with solvents?

This is a great abstract painting. It sounds like you had a great time trying them out.

There are some to stear clear of for oils but I try to use the non toxic versions, plenty of choice now. I thought the same myself, will be very tempted to have another go in the summer!

Hi Tessa Gwynne. I have just tried applying the inks to a plain sheet of glass (gleaned from an old picture frame) to see if it might work when placed over a piece of white paper. Very strange! The colour kind of fades. Might try and spray some varnish on a patch to see what happens. Have never tried oils. Might find the drying time too restrictive.
