Biography

Living on the island of Fuerteventura. It has been my home for the last 12 years. Coming to live here has opened my eyes to the most amazing scenery/beaches/ruins etc. I am self taught and just love Watercolor. Painting in such a hot climate has its challenges and the colours used are different too. Paint dries at an amazing speed - most of the time this is really handy! The sun blazes down so shelter can be essential. And the wind carries yet another set of challenges. Tourists just love to watch too. Although I have become very discreet when doodling on the beach. I always carry my latest Art journal to jot down/paint/make notes. I like to vary my styles....having a wicked sense of humor...I have a selection of cartoon paintings and when my Grand Daughter fell in love with dressingup in her mothers shoes, I painted her a book of paintings and poems...Eloise and the Clack Clack Shoes. We live in a rural area and keep hens for eggs...so amusing to watch and study. Fuerteventura is a hot/dry climate, so green hardly ever features, other than in trees or Cactus. A varied pallet of colors to suit a hot climate can be quite interesting to say the least. By far the biggest challenge is stock availability of good quality products on the island as there are very few and poorly represented supplies. I have to either take a trip back to the uk with and empty suitcase....or buy mail order. I hope you like some of my painting/sketches/styles. Happy painting days!
