Good sensitive drawing James, nice feeling of sunlight.

Super pen work on this complicated tree scene love our work on the tree bark, I love the texture and pattern in tree bark myself, great depth going through to the hedge beyond, and great work on the ground texture between the trees as well

You'll be happy, I hope, to hear that your work doesn't look like Ian Sidaway's - who has a highly distinctive line I wouldn't like to emulate, because it's so recognizably his. Do more work with your fine-liners (do you also use traditional pen and ink?) because this has succeeded well - precise without being tight, and you've inspired me to get my Indian ink and dip pens out, to see if I can capture light and shade in an ink drawing anything like as well as you have.

Great detail, I do admire beautiful drawing James.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments. Robert, that was very helpful: I f do also use dip pens and Indian ink, which I find gives me a totally different experience and effect

This is great and it's inspired me to get mt ink and dip pens out too. I haven't done a good drawing in ages and seeing this makes me feel that I want to.

Beautiful drawing James!

Absolutely lovely.

An excellent piece, James. Good draughtsmanship, as in all your works, and distinctively yours.

Wonderful drawing James.I like the idea that there are no figures here.

fine liners on mount board; I admire the fine liners of Ian Sidaway and have learned a lot by looking at his work. I think there's a question of balance between developing your own style and learning from others. I want to draw as well as him, but don't want to slavishly copy. Perhaps that's to do with vision and inspiration.
