I don't think the arch and the people are in conflict; they work well together, and I was drawn to this one - you've got the crumbling yet massively strong feeling for old stonework. If you sit too close to this and peer at it, your eye does get drawn between the figures and the shadow of the arch, but - don't! Stand back, and it works.

nib pen and twig drawing in ink on mountboard. This arch is at a strange angle in the castle wall; early morning is a favourite time for dog walkers and several passed by; so I included a couple, and later decided they needed a little colour; but I'm not sure whether the picture is about the arch or the people!
