Super birds, one of my faves James and very well drawn and painted.

A really attractive painting James - I love the colours you have chosen for the birds.

you ,ve got the colours spot on, love watching theses on the estuary, with them long red beaks foraging in the mud, great job James.

if you think of yourself as a sketcher, then I would say keep on sketching because this is lovely! Nice and loose but yet captures the birds beautifully.

Oyster catchers fascinate me; from a distance when in flight they look like some leftovers from 60's Op-art on the move.Always busy at lowtide, right on the tide line, they get irritated quite easily and lots of piping indignant cries and squeaks. A few years ago I saw a small group circling and arguing around our local shopping precinct; maybe they were deciding to make it their patch and move the gulls out. Primarily they look a deep black so I've taken a bit of licence with the colour to avoid dull black. Inks on board

I'm an amateur artist. not entirely self-taught as I attended portrait classes for some years. There I learned how to look carefully. There's not much opportunity for posed portraiture now, but as an avid observer and sketcher I try to capture moments, movements, postures , scenery, atmospheres…
