I thought the process for these atmospheric paintings might be of interest to somebody out there. This was the initial wash for the painting - Natural Avenue. This is probably the most exciting part of the process as I use x-rough paper , colours that will granulate and have no pre-conceived idea as to the composition. Once dried I decide what I want to do with the wash ( sometimes nothing ) . In this case an avenue of trees, so I re-wet the middle section, took out some colour and used a palette knife to suggest some light at the end of a path. The painting developed as I went along and you can see the final outcome in the gallery.
