OYSTERCATCHERS
Comments

I love this painting.

Have to agree with Nora. Lovely work. Smashing colours and reflections in the water.

Beautiful sharpness to the painting. Fantastic water.

This is amazing - I thought it was a photo! Love everything about it. How long did it take to complete looks like a lot of work also - what size?

Great - so clean and sharp for watercolour and love to know the answers to caroles questions above too

Thank you for all your kind comments! This painting took some forty hours to complete. At A2 size, the original was quite a large study. I used Bockingford watercolour paper pinned down to an 'elephant' sized drawing board. There were some intracacies which I spent a while to perfect, such as the Oystercatchers themselves and the reflections within the water. I used Winsor and Newton Artist Quality watercolour tubes which I prefer because once the top of the tube is replaced, the colour lasts a long, long time. I always clean my pallet but leave any sizeable watercolour 'blobs' for the next painting. I used my standard three water pots which I swear bye. All in a row the provide a really good way af keeping water clean for a large part of the duration of the painting. Regards........ Ian .
