Lovely painting - so asmospheric. Perfect still water and mist.

one more great painting!

Thanks, It's not finished yet, just a little bit of highlighting to go in here and there but it does capture the warming morning light that I know so well on this part of the river. I've recently done more of this type of atmospheric landscape/seascape work. The difficulty is making the oil paint work in blending the subtle tones for sky and the reflections of sky in the water. I find it much easier in watercolour but am still only beginning with oil. My biggest hurdle at present is creating really accurate reflected light on waves for some marine paintings I'm working on.

I especially like the abstract shapes in this and the restricted use of colour . It has real atmosphere and an air of mystery about it.

fantastic painting can't wait to see to see it when its finished, great sense of distance.

What a lovely picture reminds my husband of home as he lived on the hamble as a boy. Thank you a very good painting is this acylics? dorothy channing

Thank you for your kind comments. The painting is in oil, I don't work in acrylic although i have the paints sitting around somewhere. The goal is always to invoke some atmosphere in the viewer and it seems i have in some way done this to a few of you. The fact that Doreothy's husband grew up here means a lot as he knows the river, it's emotions and the light.
