Lovely painting Holger, love the tortoise

The tortoise is a nice touch Holger. Good little sketch. Maybe a bit more shading of the upper stones - but as I am poor at sketching who am I to say. Well done.

Good to observe and draw Holger nothing quite like it for making a good artist. Just a thought if you was able to put some colour in while out there. I am sure you would have seen more than just grey in those stones. Thats the way we tend to think and do. The sky, oh yes thats blue right paint it blue. Grass yes thats green right paint it green. But the artist in you will first observe then make judgement about the colour. And it will not be a colour but colours you see out there. I hope I have not rambled on too much.

Thanks for your comments David Adele John. To be honest the sky was cloudy when I visited, the place. I painted it to blue on the sunny day after, artistical freedom. Yes John in the sun not only the shades are stronger, which I tried to implement, but also the colours are different. There is a lot to learn, thanks for the hint.

These remains ofe the stone age you can find all over Mallorca, plain air carbon pencil sketch A4, the colour I added later. The turtle really came scrumbling through the bush.
