Another beautiful painting, how well you understand how to use watercolours. The sky is very well done and well reflected in the water.

There's a great deal of expertise in this - the controlled backruns indicating distant trees work very well; the sky is wet in wet at its best, and the mass of distant buildings on the horizon not only works very well as a feature but is accomplished with a perfect depth of tone. Is that a white tower on the far right horizon? Another little touch of intrigue.... Is this an actual place, or a product of your imagination? It's believable enough to be the former, and mysterious enough to be the latter.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. The town is Rye, E Sussex - and although there is a river, it does not have steep banks. That part is imaginary. As for the tower - I have never seen it before!! The paining was sold a few weeks ago, so I cant have a close look at it - but I will give my scanner a polishing in case it has a mark on it!

I wouldn't worry about it - anything that adds to a painting is to be welcomed. Well done for selling it; not an easy market out there just now.

Great control of paint here.
