I am struggling to get my head around digital painting. The results look good but is it really 'painting'? The bit I find hard to take on board is the fact that, if I know anything about computers and iPads, you can correct stuff on them unlike painting with paint on paper. It may be really hard to do - I don't know because I haven't tried. I do really like this portrait a lot but I have a sneaking wish that the whole thing had been executed by hand rather than stylus.

Thank you Fiona, Dennis and Thea for your very kind and encouraging comments. Thea.. I hear this so many times and I can appreciate your doubts. Yes, there's the 'undo' button and paintings can be 'saved' as you work.. this does give you a great safety net I admit. But.. each and every brush stroke you see in this painting was placed by my own hand using a brush (stylus). There is no quick fix, no auto-painting, it's just like painting traditionally. I do a little traditional painting also which has helped me enormously with getting to grips with digital. And the best thing about it is, you don't have any brushes to wash afterwards :-)

Heather you said it all people have doubts but anyone who tries digital painting soon get to realize its not easy. Regarding the undo button i have painted in oils and acrylic you can wipe out the paint or simply paint over . Some of my best paintings were painted on top of other pictures. Well done heather.
