This is amazing!! I have never seen anything like it before. The expression of that cat's face is pure magic. All the detail is wonderful and it must be a sight to behold in all it's full glory. I do hope we are to see a photo of the complete piece. Also, what an enormous amount of work has gone into it - you must be very patient!

Really effective, cleverly done William.

Hello William! It makes me feel dizzy even to think about the amount of work that goes into this and I really admire your patience. The result looks stunning and now we just wait for the photo of the finished piece.

Thank you Dawn,Thea,Carol and Satu I really appreciate your nice comments , Yes Satu there is an awful lot of work in this Totem and it reminded me why I now like to paint instead of sculpt :) It will be the last big project I undertake I think :) Warm regards to you all.

Such a labour of love, well done, I've enjoyed looking at all of these. Good to see you back!

Just fabulous, really brightened my day.

Thank you Lesley and Val, it seemed to be a favourite at the exhibition although none were sold, I am arranging for it to go on loan to the childrens hospital they have an area that helps long term patients recover with computers ,games and shows , I did a lot of fun sculptures for it when it was being built.,

The Cheshire Cat, The Totem was moddelled in clay then waste moulded in plaster, the moulds were opened and the clay cleaned out ,a release agent was applied to the plaster mould, then a double Gel coat before the glass mat was applied, when all had set hard the job of chipping away the plaster mould began (hence waste mould) When the cast was cleaned and all traces of the release agent was removed I could start painting the various relief sculptures, and apply the letters (prepainted)and the pages of the story,I had modelled Alice and the cat and cast them in fibreglass earlier so it was just a case of painting and assembling,
