Hi William, can you tell me how you make your sculptures?

Hi David , It would take too long to explain but if you can get ' Terracotta' by Bruno Lucchesi it will give you all the information and more to produce your own sculpture, I don't use Terracotta but I use stoneware clay as its less messy but using the same methods.Good luck,

I always was fascinated with sculpture, but never was brave enough to try it myself. You’ve created very interesting and very well done works William.

Your work has a life of its own, William, I love the sculptures particularly. Do you have your own kiln, I wonder? And thank you for the advice on portrait work...I see what you mean about seeing what is there, rahter than what you know of the image. I suppose you have to shut down the rational, thinking side of your brain?

Thankyou, William, for your kind comment on my portraits. Children are difficult to capture and I see you have a couple done of "Scarlett". I particularly like the one of her coming from the beach. Your sculptures are excellent - is this your preferred medium?

Thank you all for your lovely comments,no Ruth I don't have my own kiln , I joined a Studio Ceramics course simply to use their kiln, and I got hooked on the wheel for a while,The two ceramic sculptures were the first and only ones I have done, but I hope to do more,I have other sculptures but they have to be moulded and cast, a lot of work in my lazy old age so now I've been painting for about a year I just love how quickly I can capture an image and thats it ,no more work to do!

Hi Dennis, Looks like you enjoy exploring different media like me. This is wonderful, always fancied doing sculpture but haven't gotten round to it. Yet! Thanks for your comments on my portrait of Eric. I hope you get the same out of the October Artist issue when you get it.........I will keep looking for the results.......grumpy? old? nah! don't believe it.
