I like this one, and your baby elephant, because you've used the side of the pencil here to indicate the band of grass at the top of the cliff, and your elephant is more freely drawn than some of your other drawings. I liked the pier, as well, for its perspective and for the treatment of the wood graining. Just watch a few things - perspective on some of the others, eg your red pillar box, is a bit adrift; your drawing of foliage needs some more work - it is very difficult, as we all know! - and I'd suggest two things: one, try a wide range of pencils, from 3b up to 8b, and two, do a bit of reading: there are some good books out there on drawing techniques, from which I think you'd benefit. Even just holding the pencil differently can help, ie not as you would a pen; your exercises with the ball and cone are a very good idea - can't do too many of those. Lastly, I know my friend Mia Ketels got a bit annoyed with the sheer amount of posting from you: 28 all at once is hard to take in.

Thank you Robert, I'm still very new to all of this. I have a couple of books on drawing which I use to practice, and I try to draw what I see in paintings and in images that I see in books, magazines and galleries. I would love to do some formal studies at night school etc, but simply do not have the time. It is great to have encouragement though, and I do enjoy it.

Just keep drawing and experimenting, but if you can find a course that will fit in with your life, have a crack at it. DVDs and demos over on the SAA site, and some on here, are a help, too.
