Gorilla by Glyn Nightingale

jMany many years ago, I used to stay over at Bristol Zoo, in the house of my uncle who was a keeper there. The gorillas were quite young, and I watched one day as one of them, who looked much like this, very gently, but firmly, grasped another keeper around the neck, deftly removed his cap, and took it into their cage to play with. I so hoped he'd put the cap on his head, but sadly, he didn't: thus spoiling a good story. It was the gentleness I remember, though: 'hold still; I'm having your cap ...... PLAY TIME!'. Quite fantastic animals, and your painting has brought them back over a period of some 50 years.
