I have a little group like this come into the garden to clear up any left over hen food. You've got them spot on Glennis.

Thank you for your comment on this little painting. How lovely to have ducks in your garden, this little group were at our local park when we took the dog for a walk

Simply super, Glennis. You've really captured the essence of their form. Thank you too for your comments on my paintings.

If you have time for a liitle story about these three ducks that visit Glennis; I live in north Scotland and last winter was quite severe. I think the duck were desperately hungry because they are wild,to come into the garden for the scraps. I did encourage them, and even named them in the end; 'Christmas day', Boxing day' and 'new Years day'!!!! No, I didn't eat them.........they did bring their youngsters to visit though in the spring.

Fiona I am pleased they weren't for the table! Last year was a very bad winter especially in Scotland. We live in Gloucestershire and for us snow is rare but last year we had our share. The ducks in our local park were pleased with their daily rations from me and a lot of other residents, and as you say the enjoyment of the little ducklings make it all worthwhile. At the moment we have one white duck amongst the many mallards.
