Tawny Frogmouth

Fabulous expression and painting. Have googled a Tawny Frogmouth, what a wonderful little bird!

You have captured it well Gillian. When we lived in Queensland, one used to sit on our fence post. Very strange birds.

Gillian, I've just remembered what the local name for this bird was, It was called the Mopoke. I haven't thought of that for nearly fifty years!!!

Great expression, really well done

What a character Gillian, it’s a wonderful painting and I love the eyes. I hadn’t heard of this bird so looked it up, it’s a little like the Nightjar a summer visitor here. Fabulous to see one in the flesh George!

Love that wide eyed expression and the wild mane Gillian.

Thank you Carole, Romila, Fiona, George and Heather for your interesting comments on this little bird a Mopoke , I had never seen one before. He has such a funny face.

I saw a photo of this little bird and just had to paint it. It’s not an owl.
