You achieved your aim, I think - the colour of that sky is fabulous: were you working on a tinted paper? HOW did you achieve it???

Thank you both. I didn't use tinted paper, but I underpainted the sky first with pastel and pushed it well into the tooth of the paper, then built up the clouds in layers over the top. Worked similarly with the foreground too.

Unison Pastel on Colourfix paper. Wakely, Dartmoor. Photograph taken by a friend, Kris Budge and used with her kind permission. I was trying to capture something of the hollowness of the empty landscape after a snow storm.
