It seems we are all into Autumn pictures Gary. I guess it's those beautiful colours. I love the foreground in this; like the way the banking slopes down to the track. Maybe soften the centre a bit with drifts of pale, soft ochres and russets to give a bit more recession and pick out just a little more hints of colour in the nearest trees. Just had a look at your gallery and I do love your beach huts.

Thanks for your kind words, Diana. There are more colours in the trees than the image suggests but I think you are right, they need to be a bit bolder.

I like the way the path curves into the distance, and I'm not too worried by your colours - possibly a little more tonal variety (eg in the tree trunks) would help. On the whole I think this works well, the only change I'd suggest is a bit more irregularity in the sky clearing, eg branches going in and out, just a very few sharper touches to indicate clumps of leaves; it looks a little bit too neat to be true at the moment, but it's a matter of opinion, really!

great painting , have I heard the saying ,,,some times we need to help nature along .and not stick to rigidly to the photograph ,like robert says ,,embelish the trees a little .but yes its a matter of opinion

Hi Gary A. I had forgotten about the range and depth of your impressive landscape [as you call it gallery]. I have missed many of them... Though not a landscaper I tent to agree more with Alan [this is following a demo at my art club last night]

Acrylic on canvas board, 22"x18". This is based on a photo I took in the spring with bluebells in the wood but I wanted to paint it in an autumn style. I started the painting at a recent workshop I attended with artist Carole Baker. The one I did at the workshop did not really work, see my blog, so I tried again afterwards and came up with this one. Comments welcome.
