Lighthouse at Sunset by Gary Austin

Once again, difficult to do. I think sunsets are a minefield for the painter as they can easily look garish and unreal. However, the use of the pink tones gets away from the more hackneyed oranges usually used and makes this painting really work. I probably would have liked to have seen a bit more of the dark hills in the foreground, but accept that this is a long thin painting and this might have compromised the sky. I can see you like colour as much as I do - so go for it!

Acrylics 12"x 3.5". This was a quick painting made up of a scrap of canvas board I had hanging around and some left over paint at the end of a painting session.
