Acrylic on box canvas 80cm x 30cm. I have had this canvas for years and I have been trying to work out what to do with it. Thanks to an article in The Artist about using copper as an underpainting I have finally finished it. The central square is recessed into the canvas and I have mounted a small paintining of pine trees in the recess. This has a copper underpainting and this shows through between the trees and in the sky. The areas of copper are textured using modelling paste and I borrowed one of my wife's rubber stamps to create the branches on the outer copper rectangles. Very different to my usual works but it takes all sorts!
