Fred, you've managed to get so much detail here, and the sky is beautifully painted.

Lovely summery picture Fred.

Thankyou Jane and Louise.

Agree with above comments - very summery and instantly recognisable scene.

Hi Fred, I was there last summer, and stayed in the Grand hotel, shown in the background. a lot of history in that hotel. RAF bomber command requisitioned the hotel to accomodate air crew during training. As we know, many spent their last few days alive there. The layout of the hotel still shouts 1940's. The architect took a lot of trouble in representing the seasons and significant parts of the year. The four towers represent the four seasons. Each tower has 7 windows (days of the week), there are 5 floors (not sure what that represented!) and there are 360 rooms (days in a year). There was more, but I can't remember what they were. But I digress - A lovely painting. Thanks for bringing back happy days!

Thank you Tony for the very interesting info. I had no idea, amazing!

It's lovely, as usual, Fred. You are really good at capturing the mood and light of each place you paint.

Thank you Seok. It's good to know that I am conveying the feeling of the place.
