Another great piece, Fred. I can't believe how close you've come to capturing the atmosphere after so many years! We don't see those boats (called tongkangs) anymore on Singapore River, but I do remember vaguely seeing them when I was younger, and they're just as you portrayed them. I just love the detail. Yes, the building you are referring to is the Oversea Chinese Banking Corporation building, which was not only the tallest building in Singapore but also the tallest building in South East Asia. As you said, it's no longer the case.

The tall building on the left is the Chinese Bank , once the tallest building in Singapore, now surrounded and dwarfed by huge skyscrapers.
