Very nice I think your experiment has worked. I wouldn’t have thought pastelmat would take water!

Just a thought - watercolour paper takes pastel, as well (obviously!) as watercolour. I like the look of this one on pastelmat, all the same; and you can use a bit of water with pastel, eg to show tapering grasses. Arnold Lowrey has a video of this, on which he says "It is allowed!". Made me laugh when I watched it, because so many of us are frightened of experimenting with our media ... as Arnold obviously well understands.
