Wave crash

Wow, such lovely splashing waves, the gull looks happy playing with them.

Love this Emma! Like the format the subject and the description of your gull dicing with danger chasing the foam. I like to think that they “play” but in fact I suppose it’s a training session. Opposite the house in the highlands there was a Raven’s nest on the cliff and it was pure joy watching the whole family after fledging playing on the thermals. Upside down, victory roles etc. Just last week, above where I live now I witnessed the same spectacle…..isn’t nature wonderful.

This is an absolute smasher! Nature truly is wonderful

Superb splashing of that wave in contrast with the gull gliding so elegantly. Love the drama and movement within your painting Emma. Perhaps they do play. Most animals do, even if it’s part of their survival routine.

Really well painted.

The water is really jumping up!

I really like the angle you have chosen to paint this. Great painting Emma.

This is wonderful Emma. You can almost feel the strength and immensity of the waves!

Very beautiful!! I love the textures you've captured.

Thank you all! Much appreciated as this was a bit experimental.

Bears play, gorillas play, foxcubs play, dogs play: why not gulls? I'd certainly play, if I could swoop along with the thermals...

Me too, Robert, wouldn’t it be great?

Great energy and movement Emma. I’m sure they play too

Excellent painting Emma absolutely stunning.

Thank you Martin and Keith.

Great drama and movement, and love the gull gliding so effortlessly.

Thank you Sandra.

I don’t know if birds really ‘play’, perhaps that’s being anthropomorphic, but the gulls do seem to play with the highest waves, testing how close they can get, trailing their wingtips in the foam - a dangerous game, but they never seem to lose. Mostly ink and gouache on rough paper.
