Oystercatchers and sanderlings

Comments

A lovely almost monochrome, atmospheric painting, Emma. Well done.

Lovely.

Love your imagery of oyster catcher teachers with a class of sanderlings! Lovely painting.

Extremely well done .

Lovely limited palette Emma. Have you tried the 3 primary staining colours.........Winsor blue(red), Alizarin Crimson and Lemon Yellow? If you had used these for the whole of your painting, you could glaze over, using a combination of these colours if you have not painted too thickly, say the tone of your mid distant birds. Hope this might help.

I wouldn't’ have known about back runs if you hadn’t said. I’m glad you haven’t given up on the birds.

That's lovely Emma.

Thank you all! David, thanks for that advice; I don’t have Winsor Blue in my palette so will try to get some.

Great subject really well painted

A fascinating subject that you've depicted beautifully.

Thank you Paul and Avril.

The oystercatchers reminded me of stern Victorian teachers keeping the ‘class’ of little sanderlings in line...made the mistake of putting the background wash over the top of the birds, hence some back runs. All a learning curve! Watercolour, 8x12".
