In 1514 the cream of Scotlanda fighting men were all but exterminated at Flodden Field. Scant months later at Hornshole in the Scottish Borders, an English raiding party belonging to the Bishop of Hexham was surprised and routed by youths from the nearby town of Hawick, and the Bishop's standard taken. Oil on board 19.5 x 27.5 inches
